ABOUT YOGA
Hatha Yoga is a physical, mental and Spiritual culture dating back to Vedic time. Yoga is the experience of oneness and of unity with the inner being. Yoga is a state of integration, a state of radiant health and freedom. The reintegration of ourselves with that unified being which exists within us is unquestionably the highest of human goals.
It is an Integration of body, breath, mind, food, behaviour of the senses, habits, society and the environment of the individual. Through the practice of Hatha Yoga we can achieve this state of equilibrium. The practice of yoga asanas (exercises) has a powerful effect on the physical, emotional and spiritual nature of man. Asanas develop strength and flexibility of the body as well as enhancing all of the physiological functions of the body. Regular practice maintains the physical body by rapidly reducing toxic levels.
Asana practice develops a strong mind enabling one to endure difficulties with greater ease. Regular practice increases the power of determination and concentration; it improves vitality and brings about equilibrium. One radiates with health and confidence and is able to inspire others in speech and actions.
In Hatha Yoga the Asanas are used as a means of preparing the body for higher spiritual practices. They are a means of purification for both the mind and the body in preparation for the spiritual path.
